What is OceanMingle?

OceanMingle is a private social platform created specifically for cruise passengers and crew. It builds a secure digital community for each voyage, allowing people to connect, share experiences, join events, and make the most of their time at sea.
Each user is placed into the correct voyage group based on the cruise line, ship, departure port, and departure date, "Voyage", ensuring that every interaction is relevant to the trip they are on.

Are passengers and crew mixed together in the app?

No.
Passengers and crew use completely separate environments inside OceanMingle.
This applies to every part of the app, including feeds, events, messaging, matching, and memories.
This separation exists for safety, professionalism, and to maintain clear boundaries between the two groups.

Can I access the app before my cruise begins?

Yes.
You can create your profile, explore features, discover other profiles, and start chatting with people before the cruise starts.

PASSENGER

What can passengers do inside OceanMingle?

Passengers can participate in a range of features designed to enhance their trip. These include posting in the passenger-only community feed, creating or joining events, chatting with other passengers, using the optional matching feature, uploading cruise memories, and sending digital tips to crew members.

Can passengers communicate with crew?

No.
Passengers cannot see crew profiles, join crew events, or message crew members.
The only permitted interaction between passengers and crew is the ability for passengers to send digital tips during or after the voyage.

Is the dating feature mandatory?

Not.
Dating is optional. If you choose not to activate it, the dating feature will not appear in your app, and your profile will not be shown to other passengers in the matching pool.

CREW

What does OceanMingle offer for cruise crew?

Crew members have access to their own private environment inside OceanMingle. This includes a crew-only community feed, crew-only events creation, a crew-only matching section, messaging with other crew members, and a private space for saving and viewing personal cruise memories.
Verifies crew members get the option to create a Stripe account and receive tips directly from passengers.
Verified crew members received access to link two family accounts for free messaging.

Can crew interact with passengers inside the app?

No.
Crew members cannot view passenger profiles, message passengers, or participate in passenger events.
The crew may only receive tips from passengers, which is the single allowed interaction between the two groups

Do crew members receive special messaging benefits?

Yes.
Crew members can link up to two family accounts to their OceanMingle profile and enjoy unlimited messaging with these two family members.
This keeps the crew connected with their loved ones while working at sea away from home.

Do crew receive discounted premium pricing?

Yes.
Crew members have access to lower-priced premium plans to ensure the service remains affordable while they are living and working onboard.

DATING & MATCHING

How does the dating feature work for passengers?

Passengers have a completely separate matching system that includes only other passengers on the same vessel.
Passengers can not view or match with crew members under any circumstances.

Are passengers and crew ever matched together?

No.
OceanMingle enforces a strict separation of all matching activities.
Passengers match only with passengers, and crew match only with crew.

What happens when two users match?

Both users receive an instant notification inside the app and can begin chatting immediately.

Does OceanMingle offer premium plans?

Yes. OceanMingle offers optional premium subscriptions that provide enhanced visibility and additional messaging features. All pricing is listed in USD.

Passenger Premium Pricing:

Crew Premium Pricing:
1 Week: $2.49
1 Month: $5.99

Passenger Premium Benefits:
- Priority profile visibility
- Unlimited swaps in the matching section
- The ability to see who liked their profile
- Unlimited messages to users they have not yet matched with.

Passenger Free Benefits:
- 3 free swaps per day (after that, profiles can still be viewed, but unable to swap)
- Unlimited access to create and join passenger events
- Messaging with matched users only.

Crew Premium Benefits:
- Priority profile visibility
- Unlimited swaps
- The ability to see who liked their profile
- Unlimited messages to unmatched crew members.

Crew Free Benefits:
- 3 swaps per day
- Messaging with matched crew members only

SAFETY & EMERGENCY

What is the Lost Child Alert?

If a child is reported missing onboard, the Lost Child Alert instantly notifies nearby passengers. This feature helps the community respond quickly and increases safety for families travelling at sea.

What does the SOS button do?

The SOS button sends an immediate emergency notification to the user’s designated emergency contact, which is provided during the onboarding process.

What is QR Code ID Verification?

QR Code ID Verification allows passengers to confirm each other's identity during real-life meetups, helping ensure safety and accuracy.
Verification works strictly within the same user group.

EVENTS

Can passengers create events?

Yes.
Passengers can create their own events at any time and invite other passengers from the same voyage.
This can include group dinners, meetups, games, or any social activities they wish to organize.

Can crew create events?

Yes.
Crew members have their own separate event area where they can organise crew-only gatherings and activities.

Can passengers and crew attend each other’s events?

No.
All event spaces are completely separated to maintain clear boundaries to keep the environment safe and compliant.

CRUISE MOMENTS

What are Cruise Moments?

Cruise Moments is a feature that allows users to upload photos from their trip and save them to a personalized timeline.
These memories are connected to the specific voyage and remain stored in the user’s account for future viewing.

Can my photos be used by OceanMingle for promotion?

Only if you choose to grant permission.
Users can decide whether or not their photos may be used for promotional purposes.

MESSAGING

Who can I message inside the app?

Passengers can message other passengers, and crew can message other crew members. Messaging between passengers and crew is not available.

Can free users send messages to unmatched users?

Yes.
Free users receive 3 messages per day to people they haven't matched with.

Do crew have special messaging access?

Yes.
Crew members, both free and premium, can send unlimited messages to their two linked family accounts.

PROFILE & ONBOARDING

What information is required to create an OceanMingle account?

During onboarding, users provide their full name, email, country of residence, date of birth, gender, travel companion type, crew role (if applicable), emergency contact details, profile photos, and interests.

Why is “travel companion type” required?

This information helps OceanMingle personalise the experience and improve segmentation.
It allows the platform to better understand how users travel and display more relevant suggestions and events.

PRIVACY & DATA

Does OceanMingle track my real-time location?

No.
OceanMingle does not use GPS tracking.
Users are grouped based on voyage information, not live location.
The coarse location is used to confirm that the user is inside a voyage or for matching within a set radius.

Who can see my profile information?

Only people within your user category can see your profile.
Passengers see other passengers, and crew see other crew members.
There is no cross-visibility between groups.

Is my data shared between passengers and crew?

No. All data is strictly isolated between the two environments.

What happens if I delete my account?

If you delete your account, all of your personal data, photos, events, messages, and memories are permanently removed from the platform.
